Sunshades above the roof

Roof-mounted awning

Roof-mounted awnings are the most effective method in the Netherlands for regulating the temperature under your veranda or patio canopy. Although a glass roof provides beautiful natural light and a sense of spaciousness, the heat can quickly rise to uncomfortable levels on summer days. At Nexo Veranda, we understand that you want to enjoy your outdoor space to the fullest without compromising on comfort. Our premium sunshade solutions are specifically designed to block the sun’s rays before they reach the glass, significantly reducing heat buildup. Whether you have a modern garden room or a classic canopy, electric sunshades offer the perfect balance between functionality, durability, and aesthetic perfection.

The Power of Roof-Mounted Sunshades—Maximum Heat Reflection for Your Patio Cover

What truly sets roof-mounted awnings apart from systems installed beneath the glass is their direct impact on heat management. Because the fabric is mounted on the exterior of the structure, the sun’s rays are reflected before they can heat the glass surface. This prevents the so-called “greenhouse effect,” in which heat becomes trapped between the glass and an interior awning. With this patio canopy sun protection, both your patio and the adjacent home stay pleasantly cool. In addition, outdoor awnings protect your furniture from fading caused by harmful UV rays, while the fabric’s unique weave allows you to continue enjoying natural daylight without annoying glare on your screens.

Innovative Control with Electric Veranda Awnings—Ease of Use via Somfy IO and Smart Automation

At Nexo Veranda, modern convenience is key, which is why every electric veranda awning is equipped with high-quality Somfy IO motors. This system allows you to effortlessly control your awning with a remote control or via the TaHoma app on your smartphone. For a completely worry-free experience, we recommend installing optional sun and wind sensors, such as the Somfy Eolis. These smart sensors ensure that the awning on top of the roof automatically rolls out when the sun starts to shine brightly and safely retracts in strong winds or cloudy conditions—even when you’re not at home. This means you’ll always step into a cool space.

Durable materials for long-lasting sun protection—top-quality Serge Ferrari and Dickson fabrics

The quality of a rooftop awning depends entirely on the durability of the fabric used. Nexo Veranda works exclusively with renowned manufacturers such as Serge Ferrari and Dickson. These fabrics are made from eco-friendly materials with an extremely long lifespan. They are water-repellent, mold-resistant, and can withstand the widest range of weather conditions in the Netherlands. The profiles of the electric awning are powder-coated in a RAL color of your choice, allowing the system to integrate seamlessly with your aluminum veranda. Thanks to the robust construction and high-quality finish, your investment is protected against wear and tear for years to come.

Aesthetic Integration and Custom Design—A Seamless Match with Your Home and Garden

In addition to the functional aspects, the visual result is of great importance for roof-mounted sunshades. We believe that sun protection should enhance the architecture of your home. That’s why we offer a wide range of colors and fabric types, ranging from modern anthracite shades to classic cream tones. Because every project at Nexo Veranda is 100% custom-made, we ensure a perfect fit for your specific canopy. Installation can be done either on the posts or above the gutter, depending on what best complements the lines of your patio canopy sunshade.

Technical Specifications and Maximum Dimensions - Built for large spans up to 6 meters

The technical strength of our roof-mounted awning makes it possible to cover large areas. With a maximum width of 6,000 mm and a projection of up to 4,000 mm, we can provide even the most spacious patio canopies with optimal shade. The system is designed so that the fabric always remains under the correct tension, which is essential for a sleek appearance and quiet operation. The combination of aluminum profiles with a wall thickness of 4 mm and the advanced zipper-guide system ensures a wind-resistant solution that meets all modern building codes.

Increased Property Value and Energy Efficiency—A Smart Investment in Your Property

Investing in a rooftop awning is not only a choice for immediate comfort but also a strategic enhancement of your property. A patio awning increases the market value of your home by maximizing the usability of your outdoor space. Furthermore, it contributes to your home’s energy efficiency; by keeping the heat out of the patio, your indoor temperature requires less cooling from the air conditioner. This makes the electric awning a sustainable choice that pays for itself in the long run through lower energy costs and greater enjoyment of your home.
